ABSTRACT

An in vivo micronucleus test of 1,1,2-trichloroethane was performed with bone marrow cells of male CD-1 (ICR) mice. 1,1,2-Trichloroethane did not induce micronuclei in bone marrow cells, although it suppressed their proliferation at dose of 400 mg/kg.

 Test results:

The preliminary study had revealed that 1,1,2-trichloroethane induced hypoactivity in mice at doses of 400 mg/kg and above. The toxicity did not substantially vary between males and females. Thus, the micronucleus test was performed in male mice with doses of 400 mg/kg at the highest. This chemical did not induce micronuclei in bone marrow cells up to 400 mg/kg (the maximum tolerated dose), although it suppressed their proliferation at 400 mg/kg.
